Gerasimos Koilakos is a freelance photographer based in Athens, Greece. His work often explores the social, political, and economic realities of contemporary Greece, with a focus on themes of identity and culture.
He studied at the Leica Academy and began his career in archaeological photography before moving into photojournalism and documentary work. He has covered both the economic and refugee crises in Greece and has reported across the wider region, including Turkey, Bosnia, and Cyprus.
His photographs have been published internationally in outlets including Le Monde, Der Spiegel, Internazionale, Die Zeit, manager magazin, Time, Newsweek, Bloomberg, Courrier International, WirtschaftsWoche, Handelsblatt, Le Figaro, Le Point, L’Espresso and D la Repubblica.
